Signing day arrives for local players

LAGRANGE – The big day has arrived.
It’s national signing day, and it’s the first day high-school football players across the country are permitted to sign a letter of intent to play at the college of their choice.
Locally, signing-day ceremonies will be held at Callaway, LaGrange and Troup as players from those schools announce their decisions.
Among the players expected to sign is LaGrange High offensive lineman Luke Elder, who verbally committed to North Carolina last summer.
While many local players will sign today, others will wait until a later date to make their choice.
Here is today’s signing-day schedule:
11 a.m. – Callaway
12:30 p.m. – LaGrange High
1 p.m. – Troup High
OF NOTE: I’ll be providing signing-day updates throughout the day on Twitter @lagrangesports, and I’ll have photos later in the day at facebook.com/LDNsports. For a full signing-day recap, check out Thursday’s print edition as well as www.lagrangenews.com
