HAMILTON – The Troup High boys’ soccer team tuned up for a new season by beating home-standing Harris County 2-0 on Friday in a preseason game.

Troup’s girls’ and boys’ teams will both open the regular season with road games against Brookstone today.

In Friday’s game in Hamilton, it was scoreless at the half, and Troup notched two second-half goals to get the win.

Thomas Trotter scored Troup’s first goal on a breakaway, and Alan Vazquez scored the second goal off of a corner kick, with Juan Herrera assisting.

Troup’s Myles Sargent and Matthew Hale had shots on goal that didn’t find the net.

Goal keeper Matt Moore recorded the shutout, and the defense was led by Vazquez, Carson Wreyford, Aaron Rensenhouse and Collin Sargent.
