LaGRANGE — The Troup County Certified Literate Community Program hosts its annual corporate and community spelling bee at 7 p.m. Monday.
The 18th annual event will be in the Callaway Conference Center of West Georgia Tech on Fort Drive. As of Thursday, 12 teams had registered to participate in the bee, said Debbie Burdette, executive director of Troup CLCP.
The event helps fund CLCP projects, which includes initiatives to help distribute books to children and education scholarships.
This year sees the return of regulars Jack Morman as the “EmBEE,” Renae Willis as word pronouncer and Carol Cain as “BEE Bouncer,” humorously escorting losing teams from the stage.
Zachary Taylor and Mary Ann Keck will be the rules judges and Ellen Parkhurst is the time keeper.
The sixth annual literacy awards for people who have made an impact in the community also will be presented at the event.
The event is open to the public to attend.
