1 dead in head-on collision on Roanoke Road in Troup County
LaGRANGE —The Georgia State Patrol and Troup County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a fatal collision that happened about 5 a.m. Friday on Roanoke Road just west of Pyne Road.
According to Sgt. Stewart Smith, public information officer with the sheriff’s office, deputies were called out to the scene to assist state troopers with the wreck that involved a box truck — similar to a U-Haul.
Smith said one man was killed in the crash after the two vehicles slammed into each other head-on.
Another person was taken to West Georgia Medical Center with a leg injury, Smith stated.
The identity of the person killed has not been released pending notification of family members.
The wreck snarled traffic in both directions on Roanoke Road for hours as officials investigated and cleaned up the wreckage.
