Academy students win literary region

LaGRANGE — Twenty-seven LaGrange Academy high school students competed or served as alternates in the Region Literary Competition on March 11.

After a day of competition, LaGrange Academy took home first place in the region and a number of individual prizes.

Fourth place winners included Raina Modi for her rhetorical essay and Sydney Emerson for her argumentative essay.

Third place awards were given to Ellie Williams for spelling, Joseph Ragland for boys solo and Raine Hess for her personal essay.

Second place awards were given to Tina Tran in dramatic interpretation, Savannah Kelly in humorous interpretation, Yong Cho for his piano solo, and the boys quartet; Will Holmes, Joseph Ragland, Jake Keeble and Alex Wilson.

Several students took home first place trophies. Ellie Williams and Raine Hess won with their duo interpretation. Brandon Moncus won in domestic extemporaneous speaking. Anna Countess won the girls solo, and Anna, Amna Amir and Fikayo Oshinowo won girls trio.
