LaGRANGE — The Sew ‘N’ Sews quilting group at The Active Life recently donated quilts to the LaGrange-Troup County Humane Society for animals awaiting homes at the shelter.

This donation is given in connection with the annual fundraising event The Fur Ball. This year’s event is Bow Wow Meow Luau and set to start 6 p.m. Aug. 20 at Highland Country Club with a “Pawtini Hour” — featuring beer, wine and a signature Hawaiian beverage — to get a preview of new items up for auction. Bidding begins at 7 p.m. while attendees have access to a Hawaiian Luau buffet, live music and special Hawaiian performance.
