LaGRANGE — The Troup County District Attorney’s Office whipped themselves into a food frenzy last week and said the campaign to collect nonperishable items and money for local food banks was a huge success.
The DA’s office asked the community to partner with them for their inaugural Georgia Legal Food Frenzy.
Adults, students and local businesses turned up in droves all week to the Troup County Government Center to drop off bags and boxes of canned goods, said Assistant District Attorney Brett Adams.
The Coweta Judicial Circuit collected more than 529 pounds of nonperishable items, Adams said, plus more than $1,400 in monetary donations to help local food banks buy about 5,600 pounds of food.
“Troup County citizens really stepped up and gave during this food drive,” Adams stated. “Many businesses and organizations also contributed. I really am proud to serve and work for such a great county. I appreciate and thank each citizens, business and organization that gave during the fundraising event.”
Adams said all the food items and monetary donations were presented to Feeding the Valley food bank, which serves Troup County.
Donations at food banks tend to drop over the summer months.
Anyone who would still like to give can drop off canned goods and nonperishable food items at the Feeding the Valley Warehouse in LaGrange, 118 Gordon Commercial Drive. For more information, contact warehouse coordinator Denná Muncy at 706-822-1712.
