2016 local election primary results

LaGRANGE — Unofficial results are in for Troup County primary elections, and it appears a county commissioner has been unseated and the 1 percent educational special-purpose, local-option sales tax will continue.

Here’s the results from major, contested local elections based on the results released Tuesday:

Tax Commissioner (Republican, no Democratic candidates)

*Winner — Shane Frailey: 3,637 (55.71 percent)

Bill Hunnicutt: 2,274

Ronnie LeFevers: 618

County Commissioner, District 2 (Republican, no Democratic candidates)

*Winner — Ellis Cadenhead: 1,575 (80.94 percent)

William Lee — 371

County Commissioner, District 3 (Republican, no Democratic candidates)

*Winner — Lewis Davis: 1,274 (61.58 percent)

Tripp Foster — 795

Board of Education, District 5 (non-partisan)

*Runoff between Cathy Hunt: 541 (45.62 percent) and John Asbell: 440 (37.1 percent)

Kendall Butler: 205

Board of Education, District 6 (non-partisan)

*Winner — Joe Franklin: 729 (66.82 percent)

Dorothy Jennings: 242

Rodell Poole: 113

Passed: 5,062 (63.5 percent) to 2,910.
