SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Global flooring manufacturer Milliken recently announced the opening of the Milliken Distribution Center in LaGrange in its former administrative and design building.

The 143,000 square foot facility will help accommodate the company’s growing product line, which now includes luxury vinyl tile, along with its traditional broadloom, modular carpet and entryway solutions, states a press release from Milliken. The distribution center began operating on June 1.

“As Milliken grows in the market, it is important that we evaluate and when possible, adopt our existing facilities,” said Jim McCallum, president of the global Milliken floor covering division. “With the repurposing of this facility in LaGrange, we are able to support the community and continue to make a positive economic impact.”

Milliken has been part of the Troup County community since 1968. Repurposing the building as a distribution center “makes meaningful and sustainable use of the company’s existing facilities and builds upon its community relationships,” states a press release from the company.

“The Milliken Distribution Center is a key part of our company’s presence in LaGrange,” McCallum said. “We want to see the facility have the greatest sense of purpose and use. We’re thrilled that our growing product line now requires it.”

Milliken continues to operate facilities throughout Troup County that manufacture floor covering along with facilities focused on technical and performance textiles.
