Columnist: You are one thought away from changing your life

You are always only one thought away from changing your life!

If you’re not happy with what is going on in your life, look in the mirror; now are you smiling? I looked in the mirror and saw someone that was overweight and the doctor said I would be taking insulin three times a day for the rest of my life.

I stopped playing in the gym, read books on eating better and guess what, I do not take insulin every four hours. Your mind is so powerful you can do what you make up your mind to do, including making a big change.

My good friend, John, is one of my heroes. He decided to make a change and has lost 105 pounds in the past 18 months. Now he enjoys hunting, fishing and walking with his son and grandson every week.

He decided to make a change, his mind told him he could and he did. If your life is going to change, you must think about the change in order to do it.

If you’re not happy with your church, find a new one. If you’re not happy with your job, find a new one and a better one.

Do not be afraid to learn or try new ideas. A lady called me this morning and said she was not happy with the lady she went out to dinner with because the lady complained, trying to get her meal free or with a discount.

I told her to find a new friend to eat with. Make your mind up to try new things and be happy every day. It is a state of mind — your mind!

Get active in your church, your favorite clubs or your charities. You can make yourself much happier by making your mind up to be happy. You are not too old, just make your mind up to make a positive change and it will happen. May God Bless.
