LaGRANGE — Investigators with the LaGrange Police Department are searching for someone who tried to set a house on fire in the 1200 block of Juniper Street about 7:50 p.m. Tuesday.

The homeowner told officers she found a burning cardboard sign on a deck in the back of her house, according to the report.

Officers said the cardboard sign was ignited and laid on some wooden steps. The fire extinguished itself before any significant damage was done to the home, said investigators.

It is unclear what type of sign was left on the stairs — or if anything was written on it.

Police are investigating.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the LaGrange Police Department at 706-883-2603 or Troup County Crime Stoppers at 706-812-1000. Callers may remain anonymous.
