LaGRANGE — City workers will temporarily close a portion of Broad Street to complete the demolition of the former Mansours building.

The closure will be on Broad Street between West Lafayette Square and North Lewis Street, stated Lt. Mark Kostial with the LaGrange Police Department.

City officials will meet with construction workers on Wednesday to determine an exact date and time for the road closure.

When the road is temporarily shut down, drivers traveling toward Lafayette Square on Broad Street are encouraged to take Springdale Drive, North or South Greenwood streets or North and South Lewis streets in order to navigate around this closure, stated Kostial.

People traveling westbound toward Lafayette Square from Morgan Street will be diverted onto West Lafayette Square and then onto Vernon Street as part of this closure.

Drivers traveling southbound on Church Street who need to utilize Broad Street during this closure are asked to take either Smith, Battle or Haralson streets, Kostial said.

LaGrange police also warn drivers traffic around Lafayette Square will also be more congested during the closure. They ask motorists to use caution when driving through the area.
