LAGRANGE – Callaway’s softball team went on the road and handled Landmark Christian 8-3 on Thursday.

It was a big day for Oeisha Jenkins, who not only got the complete-game win but also hit her first home run of the season.

Jenkins threw a two-hitter, and at the plate she was 2-for-4 with four RBIs and the home run.

Skylar Rice also got it done at the plate with three hits and an RBI, and Kelly Carlisle, Jasmine Dukes and Lydia Bartlett each had two hits.

KeKe Talley and Acia Stephens also had hits, and Callaway finished with 13 hits as a team.

“We played a really complete game tonight,” Callaway assistant coach Jacob Rice said.

Rice said the team was sharp defensively, with Carlisle (shortstop), Dukes (second base) and Bartlett (catcher) getting it done in the field.

Bartlett has excelled as Callaway’s catcher this season.

“She’s worked real hard, and this was probably her best game at catcher by far,” Rice said.

Callaway will host Jordan on Tuesday for a Region 5-AA doubleheader, with the first game set for 4 p.m.

It will be Callaway’s senior day.

TROUP: In its final Region 5-AAAA game of the regular season, Troup handled Sandy Creek 13-1 on Thursday.

Troup (9-13 overall) finished with a 3-9 region record, and it will be the sixth seed for the region tournament.

In Thursday’s game, Troup scored three runs in each of the first four innings, and it added a single run in the fifth inning.

Leadoff hitter Kayla Lane was on base five times with three hits, and she scored four runs.

Abby Taylor was on base four times with three hits, and she scored a pair of runs.

Chandler Pritchett had two hits, Andrea Nix, Lauren Brooks, Maddie Weathers and Skye Loftin also had hits, and Kinley Stanford walked twice and had a sacrifice fly.
