LAGRANGE – Welcome to the top 10, Troup Tigers.

The Tigers have been hovering near the top 10 for the past few weeks, and following their big win over the Cedartown Bulldogs last week, they’ve broken through.

Troup is ranked ninth in Class AAAA in this week’s Associated Press poll, which continues the program’s remarkable turnaround story.

The Tigers are 7-1 and have won seven straight games, and a year ago this time they were 0-8.

Callaway, meanwhile, has maintained its position as the fourth-ranked team in Class AA after moving to 8-0 with last week’s victory over Temple.

In Class AAAA, Cartersville remains a unanimous number one selection.

The defending state-champion Purple Hurricanes are 9-0, and they’ve blown out every team on their schedule so far.

Cartersville will go for a second consecutive perfect regular season when it hosts Troup next week, and that game will also determine the Region 5-AAAA champion.

Troup will visit winless Central-Carroll on Friday as it looks to make it eight consecutive wins.

In Class AA, Callaway has been slotted into the fourth position for about a month now.

Benedictine remains first in AA, while Fitzgerald and Jefferson County are second and third, respectively.

In Class AAAAAAA, Mill Creek is ranked first, and Dalton has moved to the top of the rankings in Class AAAAAA.

Stockbridge is first in Class AAAAA with Buford close behind, Greater Atlanta Christian leads the way in Class AAA, and Eagle’s Landing is tops in Class A.
