Troup wrestling team wins championship

DOUGLASVILLE – They brought home the trophy.

The Troup Tigers, with five different wrestlers capturing individual titles, claimed the team championship at the Chattahoochee River Wrestling Association tournament that wrapped up on Saturday at Alexander High.

LaGrange also had a successful weekend with numerous placers and it finished fourth, and Callaway had three placers.

For Troup, it was Pearson Strickland, Brantly Robinson, Chase Seals, Trey Harris and Scott Hicks capturing individual titles.

Trevor Upchurch and Quenton Kersey were second, Dre Flagg, Byron Butts and Colby Harry placed third, Cade Garner and Gavin Wood were fourth, and Darius Hanson finished sixth.

Troup finished with 262 points, and it was five points ahead of second-place finisher Alexander (257).

LaGrange had nine placers, including Quindon Dunson and Chase Sams, who each finished second.

De’Erious Sands, John Arthur and Jordan Ragan finished third, Lane Oliver and  fifth, and John Todd Bohn and Dexter Fitzpatrick each placed sixth.

For Callaway, Justin Kiss and Ken Wilson finished second, and Jabbari Fisher was fifth.
