Forrest Edward Glanton, Jr. passed away Monday at WellStar West Georgia Medical Center.

 

He was born December 31, 1953 in Hogansville, Georgia; the first born of the late, Forrest Edward “Monk” Glanton and Willie Mae Glanton.

 

“Bubba” as he was affectionately known, was a strong man of faith and true love for the Lord. He rededicated his life to Christ under the leadership of Pastor Christopher Evans at Destiny Worship Center in Hogansville, Georgia; in the presence of his grandsons.

 

He attended West End High School in Hogansville, Georgia.

Forrest was employed by West Point Stevens in LaGrange, Georgia for more than thirty years; from there to Walmart Distribution Center; then on to Glovis where he was employed at the time of his death. He was also known as a well skilled, “Handy Man’ doing jobs such as roofing, painting, sheet rocking, concrete finishing, and landscaping.

 

Survivors include a loving wife, Idella Glanton; three children, Denise Dunlap, Janice (Derwin) Brewer, and Devette “Sha” (Emory) Ogletree; six grandchildren whom were the light of his life, six brothers, Arthur (Karen) Glanton, John Glanton, Willie (Michelle) Glanton, De’Ontekon Foster, Mondrecus Foster, Greg Foster; and one sister, Eterica Littleton; five aunts, Emily Gamble, Pearl Gates, Sara Glanton, Rosa Moore, Shirley Banks; four uncles, Edward Glanton, Willie (Sadie) Banks, Robert (Faye) Banks, Roma Banks; and a host of nieces, nephews, and many others whom hearts he touched.

The Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday at 2:00 PM at Destiny Worship Center, Hogansville. Pastor Christopher Evans will officiate. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery.

The family will be at their home at 133 Taylor Len Drive and will receive friends in the Chapel of Lakes-Dunson-Robertson Funeral Home on Friday from 6-8.
