Troup teams split at Central-Carroll

CARROLLTON – The Troup Lady Tigers maintained their position in the region with a 52-39 road win over Central-Carroll on Tuesday.

Troup (14-9 overall) improved to 7-4 in Region 5-AAAA, and it stayed in a third-place tie with LaGrange heading into Friday’s regular-season finale against Cartersville.

Kwyneshia Spence and Shaqoya Gilbert each scored 10 points for Troup, and Amber Gilbert had nine points.

In Tuesday’s boys’ game, Troup lost a 68-67 heart-breaker to Central-Carroll.

Troup (9-13 overall) fell to 4-7 in the region, and it remained in fourth place.

It was Central’s first region win of the season.

Troup’s Jarrious Jefferson, who received an offer from Belmont University this week, had a big day with 30 points, and he was 8-of-10 from the free-throw line.

Montez Crowe added 14 points for Troup, and Kobe Hudson added 10 points.
