Mr. James I. Scott, Jr., 87, of LaGrange, GA passed from this life to be with the Lord, on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Wellstar West Georgia Hospice.

 

Mr. Scott was born September 5, 1929 in the Grayhill Community of Troup County, GA to the late James Idus Scott, Sr. and Lois E. Taylor Scott. He was a member of First Baptist Church on the Square and had worked for West Point Pepperell and Southeastern Freight Lines as a truck driver. Mr. Scott devoted his time and love to his family, whom will greatly miss him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Jean Webster Scott; sister, Ruth Godfrey; brothers, Ed Scott and Bill Scott.

 

Survivors include his daughters, Mary Ellen (Gary) Powell and Diane (Jimmy) Guy; Gail (Darrell) Foster; granddaughter, Kristy (Lance) Morris; grandson, Scott Powell, Clint Foster; great grandchildren, Hayley Morris, Guy Morris, Reed Morris, Jayce Foster and Joanna Foster; several cousins, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday, February 4, 2017 in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary with Dr. Paul Baxter and Pastor Cade Farris officiating. The gathering of family and friends will be from 9:30 am until 11:00 am at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Wellstar West Georgia Hospice in memory of James I. Scott, Jr.
