WOODBURY – It wasn’t their night.

Needing a win to keep their season alive, the LaGrange Academy Lady Warriors fell to Solid Rock Academy 40-25 on Monday in the first round of the GISA Region 1-AA tournament.

While Solid Rock advances to the semifinals and earned a spot in the state tournament, LaGrange Academy’s season came to a close.

The Lady Warriors were solid on defense, but they were unable to get a whole lot done on the offensive end, particularly in the second half when they were limited to 10 points.

Sydney Anderson and Alexus Scott led the Lady Warriors with eight points apiece.

The Lady Warriors were trailing in the second period when Scott made back-to-back 3-pointers to give her team a 15-13 lead with 6:05 to play in the half.

LaGrange Academy only scored two more points for the duration of the second period, but it still took a 15-13 lead to the break.

It was tied 17-17 in the third period when Solid Rock went on a 10-3 run to take a 27-20 lead into the final quarter.

After Solid Rock scored the first four points of the fourth quarter, Raina Modi made a pair of free throws to make it a 31-22 game with 4:45 to play.

Solid Rock scored moments later to go back up by 11, and it held a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
