Mrs. Maria O S Kern, age 62 of LaGrange passed away peacefully at her home early Monday morning surrounded by her husband and special friends.

Maria was born September 23, 1954 in Newark New Jersey to the late Ihor John & Anna Skala. She served her country in the United States Navy having obtained the highest rank of Lieutenant and proudly received the following Medals and ribbons: Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon: Navy and Marine Corp Overseas Service Ribbon: National Defense Service Medal: Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.

Maria retired from the State of Florida Felony Probation Department and was a member of First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange.

Survivors include, Her Husband, Michael W. (Mike) Kern, LaGrange, GA and a number of specialfriends.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday from the Sanctuary of the First Presbyterian Church with The Reverend Jan Tolbert & Dr. Harry Barrow officiating. The body of Mrs. Maria Kern will lie in state at the church on Thursday one hour prior the the funeral hour.

Interment will follow Friday at 10:30 A.M. from the Georgia National Cemetery, Canton Georgia with military honors accorded.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 P.M. at the Hunter-Allen- Myhand Funeral Home.
