Commission considers moving work session time

LaGRANGE – Troup County commissioners plan to review a resolution that would change the commissions regular work session day from Friday to Thursday during their regular meeting today.

The change would be to allow commissioners an extra week day to contact offices and residents who may be difficult to reach on weekends.

“There has been a lot of talk in the past that on Friday, we don’t really have as many working days left before the Tuesday meeting, only Monday,” said Troup County Manager Tod Tentler. “That (change) gives the commissioners an extra day to ask any questions, look up any resources, research that may be done.”

The only conflict that Tentler was aware of with the change in schedule would be that the commissioners would not be able to see the results of zoning board meetings during the work session on the second Thursday of the month because the zoning board would take place on the same day.

“I think it would give us a little more time if there is a matter that we need to hear from citizens (where) they have the opportunity to speak to us before the Tuesday morning meeting,” said Commission Chairman Patrick Crews.

The commission plans to vote on a resolution that would change the work session times during the regular meeting on Tuesday at 9 a.m. at 100 Ridley Ave.
