LaGrange gets win at Sandy Creek

TYRONE – The road has been kind to the LaGrange Grangers.

LaGrange improved to 7-0 away from home with an 8-3 Region 5-AAAA win over Sandy Creek.

LaGrange, which was coming off a big 2-1 home win over Cartersville on Thursday, improved to 4-1 in the region.

With Cartersville’s loss to Troup on Friday, LaGrange is alone in first place.

Matthew Anderson was one of the stars for LaGrange in Friday’s game.

The senior not only pitched six solid innings to get the win, but he was also 4-for-5 with an RBI.

On the mound, Anderson went six innings, and he gave up two hits and one run with zero walks, and he had seven strikeouts.

Jacob Vinson was 2-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs, and Cole Freeman was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Champ Willis had a hit, a walk, and an RBI, and Ben Anderson walked twice and had an RBI.

Hunter Plant added a hit, and Willis Kemp had two walks.

LaGrange will host region foe Chapel Hill on Tuesday.
