Woman allegedly tries to steal six Samsung phones

A woman allegedly tried to steal six Samsung Galaxy S7 phones from the Walmart distribution center on Callaway Road on Sunday.

Raymechia Heath, 23, an employee at the center, had concealed six phones in her lunch bag and attempted to exit the location, according to another employee. The phones are valued at $424 apiece for a total of $2,544.

The woman said she thought taking the phones would be an easy way to make some easy money, according to the police report.

Heath was charged with theft by taking, which is a felony.

Burglary on Milam Street

The LaGrange Police Department is investigating a break-in that took place on the 500 block of Milam Street Saturday evening.

The victim said someone had broken into the residence using the living room window. She said it was hard to know what all was taken since they are in the midst of moving, but at least one flat screen TV was missing.

Man arrested for burglary

Investigators with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office have arrested and charged Maria “Montana” Phillips, 37, with one count of burglary after they were able to accumulate evidence that Phillips entered and removed property from a Glenda Drive home on June 21, according to a press release.

The release said most of the stolen property was recovered and returned to the victim. Phillips is currently in the Troup County jail awaiting a bond hearing.
