Man charged with public drunkenness

Officers with the LaGrange Police Department charged a man with public drunkenness and criminal trespassing after he was found walking in the road near LaFayette Square on Wednesday afternoon.

A driver called police after the man was in the roadway and appeared extremely intoxicated. When police arrived, the man was passed out on a bench near the square and had an open beer by his feet. After several attempts to wake the man, he finally woke up and was arrested.

According to the police report, the man was banned from the square in March and many of the businesses in the uptown area.

Police look for candy thief

Police attempted to track down a juvenile that has allegedly been stealing candy bars from Daniel Corner Market on Daniel Street.

An employee told police that the juvenile has stolen candy bars 10-12 times over the last six weeks and even waves them in the air before leaving without paying.

Police ran down a juvenile matching the description the employee gave them, but he was not the offender.
