Kickball and fur balls will get the weekend rolling with plenty to do in LaGrange and Troup County.

The First Choice Women’s Center is hosting the First Annual Kickball Tournament, NOT Just for Kicks, the Mother of All Tournaments Saturday starting at 8 a.m. at the Shuford Softball Complex. The tournament will include 16 teams, with proceeds going toward the First Choice Women’s Center, which is dedicated to providing helpful and accurate information to a compassionate environment for pregnant women.

The games will last five innings or 45 minutes, with each team guaranteed two games. Registration has ended.

Each team will include players 14, and up and three females have to be on the field at all times.

The LaGrange-Troup County Human Society’s 16th Annual Fur Ball Viva Paws Vegas will take place at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Highland Country Club.

The night will start with a cocktail hour and auction sneak peek before the silent auction and high roller buffet begin at 7 p.m.

Among the items to be auctioned will be the opportunities to be mayor of LaGrange for a day and Sheriff of Troup County for a day for children ages 9 to 16.

Lisa and the E-Lusion will perform live music and there will be an open floor for dancing.

Last year the humane society was able to raise approximately $24,000, but the goal this year is to top the 2016 total.

Tickets are $55 and can be purchased online at www.lagrangehumane.org/events.
