At this point, you’re probably tired of hearing about the partial eclipse that happened on Monday.

Yet, it is always good to tie all loose ends once they finish up.

What the community did to celebrate the eclipse on Monday was awesome.

Schools let students out of class with excused absences, closed school early or held events to watch the eclipse.

The LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce held a party for its members and was it packed.

With eclipse themed foods and drinks, such as moon pies and Sunkist soda, along with free solar glasses, the group made sure to let everyone take a break and enjoy what might be a once in a lifetime opportunity.

LaGrange College’s viewing event was so popular that it ran out of glasses for its students, who have just returned for the Fall Semester.

The college event not only brought out students, faculty and staff, but also members of the community to the residential quad between Candler and Hawkins residential buildings.

These events and how each group handled the celestial phenomenon resulted in a good opportunity for community building.

These events and options also brought a lesson to enjoy the things around us while they last.

Because much like the quickly moving eclipse, times to step back and enjoy the view go by fast and are easy to miss.
