Lady Grangers still perfect in region

LAGRANGE – They’re enjoying life at the top.

The LaGrange Lady Grangers remained atop the Region 5-AAAA softball standings with an 11-1 home win over Sandy Creek on Thursday.

LaGrange (9-3), which beat Troup 6-5 earlier in the week, improved to 3-0 in the region to maintain a one-game lead.

Sandy Creek struck first with a run in the top of the second inning, but LaGrange scored the game’s final 11 runs to win going away.

LaGrange pounded out 14 hits, and freshman Camden Smith pitched the six-inning complete game.

Katelynn Mobley had two hits, including a triple, with four RBIs.

Destiny Fitzpatrick had three hits and two RBIs, and Hannah Karcher and Malone Aldridge each had two hits and an RBI.

Jacee Marable, Kadaysha Griffin, Shaq Sutton, Abby Vanhoose and Christyauna Beasley each had a hit, and Smith had an RBI.

On the mound, Smith limited Sandy Creek to four hits and no earned runs, and she had had six strikeouts.
