BOWDON – Troup improved to 3-0 with a 35-6 road win over Bowdon on Friday night.
For the second straight week, Troup’s first-team defense didn’t allow a point, and the offense continue to excel with senior quarterback Montez Crowe pulling the trigger.
Troup’s defense, after giving up 28 points in the season opener against Hardaway, has thrived the past two weeks.
“I thought our defense had a good week of practice, getting in our run fits and getting our pad level down, and they played real well tonight,” Troup head coach Tanner Glisson said. “They didn’t give up a point. They ended up scoring in the fourth quarter off the young guys. So the defense played really well.”
Troup jumped on top on a 1-yard touchdown run by Crowe, and Tyree Carlisle added a 12-yard scoring run later in the first quarter to make it a 14-0 game.
Late in the second quarter, Troup went 84 yards in less than a minute to pad its lead
Crowe capped that drive with a 5-yard scoring pass to Jamari Thrash.
In the second half, Crowe threw a touchdown pass to Ja’Rell Smith, and Macenta Stafford scored on a short run that was set up by a long catch from Mark-Anthony Dixon.
