LaGrange softball team gets big region win

CEDARTOWN – The LaGrange Lady Grangers beat Cedartown 8-4 on Thursday to capture a critical region win.
LaGrange improved to 4-2 in Region 5-AAAA and remained in second place, a game behind Central-Carroll.
The Lady Grangers trailed for much of the game, but they scored four runs in the sixth inning to tie, and they added four more runs in the seventh inning to take the lead.
LaGrange pounded out 13 hits, with Shaq Sutton leading the way with three hits, including a double.
Camden Smith had a double with two RBIs, and Abby Vanhoose had two hits and two RBIs.
Katelynn Mobley had two hits and an RBI, and Destiny Fitzpatrick, Hannah Karcher and Jacee Marable each had a hit and an RBI.
Malone Aldridge had a pair of hits.
Smith pitched the seven-inning complete game to get the win.
LaGrange returns to region play with a key home game against Troup on Sept. 14.
