LAGRANGE – The Troup Tigers are unbeaten, and the LaGrange Grangers have yet to win a game.

When those two teams take the field on Friday night, though, they’ll be in the same situation as they play their Region 5-AAAA openers.

LaGrange will host Central-Carroll for its homecoming game, while Troup will visit Chapel Hill.

LaGrange and Troup will each play six region games, and the top finishers in the seven-team region will qualify for the state playoffs.

Also this week, Callaway will complete its non-region schedule with a home game against Harris County on Thursday.

Lafayette Christian is off this week, and it will host Central-Christian on Sept. 29.

LaGrange and Troup were both off last week as they prepare for region play.

The high-flying Tigers are hoping to keep things rolling this week.

Troup is averaging 41 points per game, and senior quarterback Montez Crowe has thrown for 1,316 yards with 11 touchdowns.

Chapel Hill is also playing well, and it improved to 3-1 with last week’s 21-14 overtime victory over Whitewater.

For LaGrange, it’s been a struggle.

The Grangers have been outscored 149-10 in their four games combined, although they did score their first points of the season in a 42-10 loss to East Coweta on Sept. 8.

Central-Carroll went 0-10 a year ago, but it will bring a 2-2 record into Friday’s game.

Central-Carroll lost to Heard County 42-21 last week.

Callaway will continue its challenging non-region schedule with Thursday’s game against Harris County at Callaway Stadium.

Callaway improved to 4-0 with last week’s 40-20 win over Upson-Lee, while Harris County is 2-2 after losing to Perry 49-22 last week.
