Morris Edward Roberts

Morris Edward Roberts, 89, of Evansville, Indiana, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather, took his last breath on earth and his first breath in heaven on Monday, September 18, 2017, at Braun’s Nursing Home.

Morris was born in Griffin, Georgia on April 26, 1928, to the late Thomas Bell and Alpha (Holland) Roberts. At age 15, he met the love of his life and future wife, Eleanor. He honorably served in the United States Army and graduated from Georgia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management. Early in his 35 year career at Kraft Foods, Morris introduced the concept of putting measurement markings on margarine sticks. He received the Jade Ring, the highest award at Kraft for industrial innovation. Morris enjoyed bowling, sailing, fishing, traveling and serving on mission trips. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. Morris volunteered with Meals on Wheels and at Junior Achievement. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Morris is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Eleanor (Perryman) Roberts; daughter, Celeste Roberts; son, Glenn Roberts (Kristin); sister, Iris Bradley (Peter); sister -in-law, Tina Perryman;  grandchildren, Paul, Karin and Annika, and many nieces and nephews.

Morris was preceded in death by his parents and son, Morris E. Roberts Jr.

A private graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2017, at Blue Grass Cemetery with Pastor Ben Lovell officiating.

The family would like to thank the staffs at Brookdale Senior Living and Braun’s Nursing Home, especially Beth and Mary, for all of their care and compassion.
