Second-half rally lifts Warriors

LAGRANGE – The LaGrange Academy boys’ soccer team shrugged off a 1-0 halftime deficit and beat Brandon Hall 3-2 in an overtime thriller on Tuesday.
It was the final game of the regular season for the Warriors, who finished second in GISA Region 1-AA.
LaGrange Academy will face Oak Mountain in a first-round match next week in the state tournament.
Those two teams will play in Monroe at 3 p.m., with the winner advancing to the semifinals
In Tuesday’s match, John Turton and Mason Brown both scored goals in regulation, and it was tied 2-2 headed to overtime.
Turton scored the lone goal in overtime to power the Warriors.
SOFTBALL: LaGrange Academy lost to Flint River 12-3 on Monday in a game to determine GISA Region 1-AA’s number two seed for the state playoffs.
With the loss, LaGrange Academy finished third in the region, and it will be on the road against Briarwood Academy in Warrenton on Tuesday.
LaGrange Academy and Flint River finished tied for second in the region, and since they split their regular-season meetings, they met in one game to break the tie.
