LAGRANGE – The surging Troup Tigers, fresh off their big win over Sandy Creek, along with the powerful Cartersville Purple Hurricanes are leading the way in the Region 5-AAAA standings.

Cartersville (6-0 overall) and Troup (6-0) are both 2-0 in the region, and they could be headed for a second consecutive showdown for the region championship, although they both have plenty of work left to do.

Cartersville and Troup will end the regular season against each other on Nov. 3 at Callaway Stadium, but they both have three games to play before then.

Cedartown (5-1) and Central-Carroll (3-3) are both 1-1 in the region, while Chapel (3-2) and Sandy Creek (3-2) are 0-1 in the region.

LaGrange (0-6) has dropped both of its region games.

Before Troup gets to the Cartersville game, it will play LaGrange, Cedartown and Central-Carroll.

Cartersville has games remaining against LaGrange, Sandy Creek and Chapel Hill before it comes to Callaway Stadium for the showdown with Troup.

The top four teams in the region will qualify for the state playoffs, and the first-place and second-place teams will be at home for the opening round.
