LAGRANGE – The Troup Lady Tigers know they’re going to the state softball playoffs.
Whether Troup is seeded third or fourth won’t be determined until today’s game, though.
Troup, after knocking off Cartersville in the opening round of the Region 5-AAAA playoffs, will host Cedartown today at 5:30 p.m.
The winner of the game will be the region’s third seed for the state playoffs, while the loser will be seeded fourth.
Both teams will be on the road for the opening round of the state playoffs next week.
Troup reached this point by taking two of three from Cartersville.
Troup won the opening game of the series 10-9, and Cartersville won the second game 12-6 to force a decisive third game on Tuesday.
Troup dominated Game 3 from the get-go on the way to an 11-3 victory.
Junior shortstop Kayla Lane wore Cartersville’s pitchers out in the series with six hits and 15 RBIs and two home runs, including a grand slam in Game 2.
Troup and Cedartown split their two regular-season meetings.
Troup won 14-8 at home before losing 10-5 at Cedartown.
The teams finished with the same region record, but Troup ended up as the fifth seed because of run differential, while Cedartown was seeded sixth.
