Christmas Made in the South coming to Columbus

Published 4:56 pm Friday, October 6, 2017

Once again, Christmas Made in the South will bring a wide variety of artists and craftsmen into one location so shoppers can find anything that they can imagine.

The show will take place Friday, Oct. 27 through Sunday, Oct. 29 at the Columbus Convention and Trade Center.

“We have more than 200 artists and craftsman,” says Janice Hunt, show coordinator. “Many of them will be demonstrating their work. This is our 27th year in Columbus and this show is rated in the top 100 fine art and craft shows by Sunshine Artists, which rates more than 100,000 shows in the country.”

With show times running from 10 a.m. to 8p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Hunt says many people attend the show multiple times. “One admission is good for all three days. A lot of people come Friday by themselves, Saturday with friends and Sunday with their families.”

“Show-goers like this show because they can find items here that they cannot find elsewhere. You can pretty much get a gift for somebody and know that they won’t have it,” Hunt said. “There are thousands of one-of-a-kind items, including jewelry, ornaments, glass-blown decorations, textiles, clothing, gourmet food and clay sculptures. We try and limit the number in each category so that there is a diverse group of artists on display.”

Everything is unique and is the exhibitor’s own work and designs and not commercially made or manufactured. The artists and craftsmen will be there to talk about their craft and share their stories.
