LAGRANGE – Troup and Cartersville are leading the way.
With the Region 5-AAAA schedule approaching the halfway point, Troup and Cartersville are the front-runners, although there is still plenty of football still to be played.
Cartersville, which has won back-to-back state championships and is on a 37-game winning streak, is leading the region with a 3-0 record, while Troup is 2-0.
If those two teams keep winning, they’ll meet at Callaway Stadium on Nov. 3 for the region championship.
Troup still has three more games to play before it gets to Cartersville, including Friday’s showdown with LaGrange.
Troup then faces a critical road test at Cedartown before ending the regular season with home games against Central-Carroll and Cartersville.
Cedartown is 2-1 in the region, with its only loss coming to Cartersville, and it will be rested and ready for Troupnext week.
“They’ve got a bye week this week and they’re getting ready,” Glisson said. “And they’ll be sitting there at 6-1.”
Chapel Hill holds down the fourth spot in the region at 1-1, Central-Carroll is 1-2, and Sandy Creek (0-2) and LaGrange (0-3) are winless.
