Barbara Ann Adams

The Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Barbara Ann Adams of LaGrange will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Confidence Missionary Baptist Church on Colquitt Street. Pastor Michael Jackson will officiate. Burial will be in the Southview Cemetery.

Mrs. Adams, a native of LaGrange, was born Aug. 2, 1938, and was the daughter of the late Mary Lou Dixon Sanders and Joseph Sanders.   She helped found the Confidence Missionary Baptist Church with her late husband, Rev. Robert Adams Jr.   In addition, she worked in childcare for many years and with Adams Construction Company.

She leaves to cherish her memory, daughters: Linda (Harry) Thomas, Fayetteville, GA; Cassandra (Willie Keith) Maddox, Fayetteville, GA; Bernadette Renee Adams, LaGange; Kamillah Tipton, Jonesboro, GA; brother: Ernest (Jewel) Salmon, Conyers, GA; grandchildren: Yusuf (Vicki), Detroit, MI; Rashida (Gerald), Kennesaw, GA; Hassan (Sherika), Detroit, MI; Abdur (Qiana), Kennesaw, GA; Natasha (James), Kapolei, HI; Justin (Janis), Elgin Air Force Base, FL; Corey (Anya), Boston, MA; Courtney (Atlanta); Derrick (Jeralyn), Woodstock, GA; Antoine, San Jose, CA; Brandon, San Ramon, CA; Alicia, LaGrange; Felicia, LaGange; Taylor, LaGrange; sister-in-law, Lola Barnes, LaGrange; brothers-in-law: Monroe Adams, Chattanooga, TN; Herbert Adams, Chattanooga, TN; aunt: Mary Helen Dixon, LaGrange; 24 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; Pastor Michael and Lady Brenda Jackson; goddaughters and caregivers: Mary Tucker, Rosie Hardnett, Vanessa Coverson, Patricia Bonner, Angela Lofton, Ruby Nell Harrison, Javonna Davenport, April Tucker, Geraldine Brooks; CMBC Mother Board and church family; special friends: Mattie Kate Williams and Willie Mae Cameron;   many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons: Wali Karim (Willie Robert Adams), Phillip Jerome Adams; and one daughter, Janice Adams Thomas.

The family will receive friends at the church on Monday evening from 7 until 8 p.m.

Flowers will be accepted. Those desiring are asked to make contributions to the Building Fund of Confidence Missionary Baptist Church in memory of Mrs. Adams.
