A 78-year-old man was killed after being hit by a pickup truck on Friday night on Pyne Road, according to Georgia State Patrol.
The man, George Allen of LaGrange, was pronounced dead on the scene.
According to GSP, a dark-colored pickup truck was traveling south on Pyne Road, and while negotiating a curve the vehicle travelled off the right side of the road and struck a pedestrian. The truck then left the scene. According to the GSP report, a witness heard the collision around 8:45 p.m. but did not see the collision itself or the pedestrian, but did see the truck leaving the scene.
Later, two locals stopped when they saw what appeared to be a person lying in a ditch. According to GSP, they returned to the incident location and called 911. GSP was dispatched to the scene at 9:42 p.m.
GSP is currently looking for a 2007-2008 Ram pickup with damage on the right front side, including damage to the windshield and a missing headlight in connection with the incident. GSP has asked for the public’s assistance in locating the vehicle.
