LaGrange College’s women’s basketball team, which is off to a 5-1 start, will open its USA South schedule today with a home game against Piedmont, with tip-off set for 2 p.m.
LaGrange College opened the season with five consecutive wins before falling to Oglethorpe last weekend.
“We have to continue to work hard in practice and keep learning from each other,” LaGrange College head coach Lee Buchanan said following the loss to Oglethorpe. “We can learn a lot from this game and the loss will make us better in the long run.”
Three LaGrange College players average in double figures in points, including Lauren Johnson, who scores 13.2 points per game.
Maurilaren Farr averages 11.5 points per game, and Riley Chlupacek scores 11.3 points a game.
LaGrange College’s men’s team opened its USA South schedule with an 89-85 road loss to Covenant on Thursday.
The Panthers trailed by 19 points with less than six minutes remaining, and they fought back to make a game of it before falling short.
Jamison McCray led the Panthers with a career-high 27 points, and Alex Bonner added 22 points.
Bonner surpassed 1,000 points for his career in the game.
“It’s a great accolade for Alex. He’s a great player and it’s a good individual award,” LaGrange College head coach Kendal Wallace said. “But right now we need to work on our team. We’re not playing very well as a team. We outrebounded them, we shot more shots than them, and shot a very good free-throw percentage. We just can’t stop anybody, we’re not playing very good defense.”
LaGrange College is off until Dec. 16 when it hosts Berea.
