The Young Singers of West Georgia will present Christmas Memories, their holiday concert, at New Community Church on Dec. 8 and 9.

This performance will consist of heartwarming and entertaining songs from a variety of genres. The show features group performances, large and small, of Christmas classics and favorites.

The Young Singers of West Georgia consists of over 100 performers ranging in age from 8 to 18 years old and represent schools from within a 45 mile radius of LaGrange, which is their home base.

YSWG has been providing choral instruction and performances for over 20 years. Members join through an audition process and meet weekly during the school year at the Lafayette Society for Performing Arts in downtown Lagrange.

Stacey Hardigree, conductor and artistic director, provides instruction in proper vocal technique, the art of ensemble singing, the skill of music-reading, stage presence and the disciplines of teamwork and cooperation.

Each year the group welcomes new faces while having a high retention rate from season to season, affording students the opportunity to hone their musical skills over an extended period of time.

Performances by the Young Singers occur throughout the year.  They recently placed in the top 10 of United Way’s LaGrange Has Talent and can be seen performing in holiday events in downtown LaGrange. Several members were selected by audition into the Georgia Music Educator’s All-State Choir and one of the students, Stevie Hardigree, was selected for the Governor’s Honors Program this past summer. The group is also honored to be featured guests with the Lagrange Symphony Orchestra on Dec. 12.

“Christmas Memories” will take place at New Community Church at 1200 South Davis Road in LaGrange on Friday, Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 9 at 3 p.m.  Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for students.

The YSWG concert is sponsored by Holmes Pharmacy, Kemp’s Carpet and Ankle and Foot Centers of Georgia.  To purchase tickets or for more information, call (706) 882-9909 or visit Lsparts.org.
