John Tommy Bonner

John Tommy Bonner, 80, of Americus died Monday, Dec. 11, 2017 at Phoebe-Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. He was born Aug. 14, 1937, in Riverview, Alabama to the late Curtis Akins Bonner and Berta Pauline Gill Bonner.  Mr. Bonner was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. He was an avid fisherman, loved gardening, yard work and Atlanta Braves baseball.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017, at Salem United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Carter and  the Rev. Lawrence Wiggins officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Memory Gardens, 120 Old Pretoria Rd., Albany. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. At other times the family may be contacted at the home of Debbie and Steve Brown, 1664 Upper River Rd. in Americus.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Dolly Ann Bonner of Americus; a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Steve Brown of Americus; and a son, John Tommy Bonner, Jr. of LaGrange. Also surviving are two brothers and a sister-in-law: Jim Bonner of Eufaula, Alabama, and Bob and Pat Bonner of Atmore, Alabama; seven grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Curtis Lee Bonner; a brother, Buck Bonner; and a sister, Betty Gaddy.
