Lady Grangers stay perfect in region

The LaGrange Lady Grangers improved to 2-0 in Region 5-AAAA with a 65-50 road win over Cedartown on Friday.

Senior guards Aryan Dozier and Chnaireia Strozier combined for 38 points to help LaGrange stay perfect in the region.

Dozier led the way with 21 points, and Strozier added 17 points.

Madison Coverson chipped in with nine points for LaGrange, and Chaquve’ayr Robinson added seven points.

The Lady Grangers started quickly, and they led 19-10 after the first quarter and 36-20 at the half.

LaGrange kept it going in the second half, and it led 51-32 heading to the final quarter.

In Friday’s boys’ game, LaGrange had a tough shooting night in a 55-41 loss.

Daz Williams made five 3-pointers for LaGrange and scored 17 points, and Bo Russell scored 11 points.

No one else on for LaGrange had more than four points.

The Grangers trailed 28-23 at the half, and despite scoring just six points in the third quarter, they were still within five as the fourth period rolled around.

While the Bulldogs heated up and scored 21 points in the final quarter, the Grangers were limited to 12 points.

LaGrange’s teams will be at home against Cedartown today, with the girls’ game set to tip off at 3 p.m., and the boys’ game to follow.
