The LaGrange Lady Grangers continued their perfect start in Region 5-AAAA play with a 46-35 victory over visiting Cartersville on Saturday afternoon.

LaGrange, which has also beaten Central-Carroll and Cedartown, improved to 3-0 in the region.

“The biggest thing we told them is we’re 3-0 in the region, and any win in the region is good,” LaGrange head coach Stephen Tuck said. “There are some things you can do better, but I think we’re at a good point right now where we continue to get better.”

LaGrange’s two outstanding senior guards, Aryan Dozier and Chnaireia Strozier, each scored 18 points.

The Lady Grangers led 13-8 after the first quarter, and they were clinging to a 20-19 lead at the half.

LaGrange created some separation in the third quarter, and Strozier scored right before the buzzer to give the Lady Grangers a 34-24 lead heading to the final period.

With five minutes left in the game, a Strozier basket gave LaGrange its largest lead of the game at 42-26.

LaGrange had a double-digit advantage the rest of the way.

As has so often been the case, many of LaGrange’s points were generated by a defense that forced a lot of turnovers.

“We talk about it all the time about how our defense makes us go,” Tuck said.

LaGrange will host rival Troup on Tuesday.
