Before Tuesday night’s Troup County School Board work session, a vote was held to determine the new board chairman and vice chairman.

Kirk Hancock was voted unanimously as the new board chairman and Allen Simpson was voted as vice-chair. Ted Alford had previously served as board chairman for the group.

Alford nominated Hancock for the position.

“I want to thank you Ted for your support,” Hancock said.

“You’ve done a great job and [I look forward] to you mentoring me as I go forward and learn the process.”

Thursday night’s scheduled board meeting was rescheduled for Monday at 5:30 p.m. due to the icy conditions on roadways.
