The Callaway Lady Cavaliers are still in first place, but they’re now having to share that spot with two other teams.

Callaway was alone in first place after winning its first three Region 5-AA games, but it lost at Spencer last week.

That means that Callaway, Lamar County and Spencer are all tied for first place with 3-1 records, while Heard County is close behind at 2-2.

Callaway has already beaten Heard County and Lamar County, while it lost to Spencer.

Temple (1-3) and Jordan (0-4) are the bottom two teams in the region.

Callaway will reach the halfway point of the region schedule with Saturday’s game at Temple.

On the boys’ side of the region, it’s Spencer leading the way with a 4-1 record, while Heard County is a game behind at 3-1.

Temple is 2-2 in the region, and Callaway, Lamar County and Jordan are all 1-3.

Callaway, which beat Jordan 78-74 at home last week for its first region win of the season, hung tough at Spencer before falling 70-65.

Teams are fighting for position heading into the region tournament in February. The top four finishers on the girls’ and boys’ side will advane to the state tournament.

Both Callaway teams finished second in the region last season.
