Woman charged for allegedly cutting two men in dispute

A woman was charged with aggravated assault after allegedly cutting two men on the hand during a domestic dispute Tuesday on Whitesville Street.

The woman, June Shelander, allegedly got into an argument with her husband, who received a cut to his hand. A second male was also in the area and had a cut to the hand as well, according to a LaGrange Police Department press release.

Shelander was charged with aggravated assault (FVA) and aggravated assault, according to a LaGrange Police Department press release.

Woman allegedly bends key, flattens tire after vehicle repossessed

The LaGrange Police Department is investigating an incident that occurred after a vehicle was repossessed on Tuesday.

The vehicle was taken to 115 Peters Street, the address listed for Chris’ Towing. An employee at that address had been contacted by the vehicle’s owner, who asked to get her personal belongings out of the vehicle.

When the woman arrived, she allegedly used a curb to bend the ignition key to a 90-degree angle before turning it in. After she went to get her belongings out of the vehicle, one of the tires was flat and had an 8-inch in length tear in the sidewall.

According to the police report, the woman is seen bending the key on video.

The employee was still looking for a better angle of the woman allegedly cutting the tire, but there is video where the vehicle is sitting level before Towns begins walking away.

The owners of the business were not sure if they were going to press charges, according to the press release.

Employee allegedly causes damage at local business, gets fired

The owner of Yummy Tummy on Whitesville Street called police after an employee allegedly damaged property and stole hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise. The owner told police when he arrived at the business, the cash register was lying on the ground with damage to the front cash drawer to the cash box and the screen on the floor with no power.

He said the wireless router was also damaged. Four cases of Coca Cola with 48 bottles in each were stolen, a 15 pound box of Oxtails, one case of chitlins with 12 packs in each, one case of crawfish and an unknown amount of chicken.

It was also unclear how much money was allegedly taken from the register. The business owner could not get the cash drawer to open because of the damage to the unit, according to the police report.

No arrests had been made, but the owner said he fired the employee.

Firearm may have been stolen from house

A woman reported her Taurus 9 mm firearm as missing Tuesday in a police report.

The woman lives on Pyracantha Drive and said the firearm went missing during the first week of the year.

Women argue over $5, mother taken to jail

A woman and her daughter got into an argument over $5, which ended with the mother being charged with simple assault and getting taken to the Troup County Jail.

According to a police report, the two women began arguing at a residence on Polk Street after the daughter gave the mother $5.  The daughter then asked the mother, Miranda Hill, for the money back. Hill said no and wouldn’t take the $5 out of her jacket, according to the police report.

Hill allegedly picked up a knife during the argument and began making stabbing motions at her daughter. The two separated and police were called. Hill, 44, was in jail Wednesday, according to the Troup County Sheriff’s Office arrest/release reports. No bond was listed.
