A man was shot and killed after multiple shots were fired into a house Monday night on Lady Elaine Street.
Antonio M. Harris, 31, was killed after an unknown suspect fired multiple shots into the residence and then drove away, according to a LaGrange Police Department press release. The LPD responded to the call around 9 p.m.
Lt. Dale Strickland with the LPD said it was unclear whether shots were fired from a vehicle or if a suspect or suspects got out of the car and then fired. More than 20 shots were fired, and Harris was struck in the chest, Strickland said.
“We know there was a car involved because some of the witnesses we interviewed said there was a car leaving in a hurry, but they were not able to give a description,” Strickland said. “I don’t know if the individuals were outside of the car, then got into the car and then drove away, but the shots were fired, based on the evidence we found at the scene, from the road area.”
Strickland said it wasn’t clear if there was more than one shooter. However, he said based on the number of bullets recovered, it was possible that more than one person was involved.
At the time of the shooting, Harris, two adult females and two young children were inside the home. Harris was the only person injured at the home, where he had been visiting a friend, Strickland said.
Harris was pronounced dead at the scene. No one has been arrested at this time.
During the investigation, a woman was arrested after not allowing police to seize her cell phone as part of the investigation, according to a police report from the LaGrange Police Department.
Shaquavia Woodyard, 26, was charged with false statements and writings and obstruction of officer.
According to the Troup County Sheriff’s Office arrest/release reports, her bonds totaled $3,000.
