Madden shines for Lady Tigers

CARROLLTON – Jedda Madden had a monster game to help the Troup Lady Tigers beat Central-Carroll 56-40 on Tuesday.

Troup improved to 5-5 in Region 5-AAAA with two regular-season games remaining.

Madden, a senior, did it all for Troup.

She not only scored a game-high 22 points and was 8-of-10 from the free-throw line, but she also had 10 steals and eight rebounds, leaving her just short of a triple-double.

Amber Gilbert added 15 points for Troup while making 5-of-6 free-throw attempts, and Jada Green scored six points.

It was close early, with Troup clinging to a 13-10 lead after the first quarter.

Troup exploded for 24 points in the second quarter, though, to seize a 37-19 lead at the half.

Gilbert and Madden combined for 18 points in the second quarter to help Troup build the big lead,.

Troup maintained a comfortable lead throughout the second half.

In Tuesday’s boys’ game, the Tigers improved to 6-4 in the region and remained in third place with a 76-64 win.

Senior guard Jarrious Jefferson led the Tigers with 30 points and six assists, and King Mwikuta added 12 points while pulling down 10 rebounds.

Andy Boykin added 10 points, Kobe Hudson scored nine points, and Montez Crowe contributed eight points.

Troup’s teams will visit Cartersville on Friday before closing the regular season at Chapel Hill on Saturday.
