TCSS announces makeup days

All of those snow days were a welcomed sight for students in the Troup County School System earlier this winter and most of them won’t have to be made up. The school system missed six days but only one of them will be made up, according to a press release from the school system.

The make-up day will be March 9, one of the school system’s inclement weather make-up days. Four of the six days were officially declared a State of Emergency by Gov. Nathan Deal, so they won’t have to be made up.

“After much discussion, we have decided it is in the best interest of the students to use the Inclement Weather Make-Up Day for necessary student learning and instructional time,” said Dr. Cole Pugh, Superintendent of the school system, in a press release.

TCSS employees will also have to make up two missed days by submitting annual leave or documentation showing extended work time. Certified teachers will be scheduled for two days of professional learning after Memorial Day, according to the press release.

The Georgia Department of Education is also delayed the school system’s Georgia Milestones start date. The testing will now start on April 23.
