Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Jane R.K. Brooks Green, 83, of LaGrange passed away Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018, at West Georgia Hospice.
Mrs. Green was born April 11, 1934, in Randolph County, Alabama, the daughter of the late Charlie and Nina May Smith Brooks. She was a member of Oakside Baptist Church, the Golden Gleaners of Oakside, and was a founding member of Oakside School. Her great uncle Smith founded Mercer University. Mrs. Green worked in textiles. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Lee Green, a daughter Kathleen Green, and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her children, Wanda Green, South Carolina; Pam and Donnie Cook, Warm Springs, Georgia; Jesse Steve Green, LaGrange, Georgia; Wesley David Green, LaGrange, Georgia; Joyce Mathews, LaGrange, Georgia; Glenda Green and Michael Bandiera, Grantville, Georgia; Neil Green, LaGrange, Georgia; son-in-law, Ronnie Lumpkin; two special grandchildren, Sylvia Peacock and Rowdy Yates; 13 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; siblings, Macie Montgomery of Manchester, Georgia and Aaron Brooks of LaGrange, Georgia
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Green will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 21, at 3 p.m. from the Hunter-Allen- Myhand Chapel with the Rev. S.T. Janney, the Rev. Jimmy Pruitt and the Rev. Tim Tidwell officiating. Interment will be in the Meadoway Cemetery. The family requests that friends join them after interment for dinner at Oakside Baptist Church in the Taylor Building. The family will receive friends at funeral home Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
